Sharia Banks' Financing Grows 9.5% YoY in December 2020


Sharia banks' financing distribution recorded a growth of 9.5% YoY as of December 2020, higher than conventional banks, which recorded minus 2.14% in the same period, said Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority Wimboh Santoso in Jakarta, Tuesday (19/1)

"The resilience of Islamic commercial banks can be seen from the CAR grew 21.59%, the gross NPF was at 3.13%, and the ratio of financing to funding (FDR) was at the level of 76.36%," said Wimboh in a webinar with the title Indonesian Sharia Economics. 2021, Tuesday (19/1).

Sharia banks' better performance saw Islamic commercial banks' total assets, which increased by 21.48% or recorded around Rp1,770 trillion, consisting of Islamic banking of around Rp593.5 trillion, Islamic capital market including mutual funds Rp1,063 trillion.


Also, Indonesian sharia commercial banks are ranked 2nd in the world based on the Rafinity Islamic Finance Development Report 2020 and 4th on the Islamic Finance Development Indicator (IFDI).

"The existence of growth indicators for Islamic commercial banks throughout 2020 can provide optimism for the sustainability of this year's increase. All of this gives a sense of confidence that 2021 will be even better, "he said.

In the same place, the Deputy for Finance and Risk Management of the Ministry of BUMN, Nawal Nely, added that the Indonesian Sharia Bank's presence could have an outside impact on the Indonesian economy and society.

"We hope that with the Indonesian Sharia Bank, the map of banking in Indonesia will be even clearer," he said
