First Session, JCI Falls 0.40% to 6,323
The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) in the first trading session today, Friday (19/3), fell 25.27 points or 0.40% to 6,322.56.
Of the composite stocks, 161 stocks rose, 292 shares fell, and 177 stocks were unchanged. The total volume of transactions reached 10.62 billion shares with a market turnover of 5.36 trillion.
Seven sectoral indices fell, tracking the fall in the JCI. Weakening from the deepest, consecutively, was the construction sector which fell 1.67%, the mining sector fell 1.19%, the financial sector fell 0.98%, and the infrastructure sector fell 0.85%.
Other sectors, the plantation sector, slipped 0.78%, the trade and services sector fell by 0.56%, and the miscellaneous industrial sector was down 0.29%.
Meanwhile, three other sectors strengthened. The biggest gain was in the consumer goods sector, up 1.84%, followed by the manufacturing sector gaining 1.02% and the basic industry sector rising 0.53%.
While the stocks among the top gainers of the LQ45 were PT Japfa Tbk (JPFA)which rose 4.92%, PT Indocement Tunggal Tbk (INTP) gained 4.26%, PT Gudang Garam Tbk (GGRM) rose 3.96%.
The stocks that included the LQ45 top losers were PT Medco Energi International Tbk (MEDC), down 3.20%, PT Indah Kiat Pulp, and Paper Tbk (INKP) decreased 3.06%, PT Summarecon Agung Tbk (SMRA) declined 2.91%.
